Which Jeans Are Best For Me?

The most essential items in any man’s wardrobe are his faithful jeans. The right pair not only look great they feel great too, becoming a second skin that reflects the life you’ve lived in them. Nothing can spoil your look as quickly as an ill-fitting pair of jeans, so it’s important to find the right style for your body which should become second nature using the below guide to mens jeans.

Straight leg – one of the easiest jeans to wear due to their versatility and conservative style, straight leg jeans will flatter most body shapes. However tall, athletic and lean people will benefit most from this style as it highlights their natural body shape.

Relaxed fit – if you’re of stocky proportions this is the fit for you. The wider leg gives you some room to move meaning that the jeans will be comfortable as well as flatter your body. Look for jeans with larger or oversized back pockets to give the illusion of a smaller derriere.

Bootcut – athletic physiques and those with broad shoulders will look great in bootcut jeans as the narrower thigh and oversized hem will balance out your silhouette. Large flap fastening back pockets can also broaden your lower body balancing out those powerful shoulders.

Skinny – this one is strictly for the thin boys and contrary to popular belief, if you opt for a fabric with a slight stretch this will actually give the impression of a larger frame. Anyone with a slight belly or stocky build should avoid skinny jeans at all costs.

All rise – a quick note on the rise of mens jeans. The rise is the measurement between the crotch and the waist of your jeans and it comes in varying lengths. Low rise jeans have the least amount of room, sit on the hips and are best suited to thinner guys. A mid rise sits just below the belly button and is best suited to taller guys with long legs as this will keep your body looking in proportion. For wider waists it’s best to look for a normal rise that will sit around the waist at belly button level, this avoids unsightly male muffin tops and the dreaded builders bum.
